bend with the wind, sing with the muses

Looking for a good open mic where you can hear and share some fresh poetry? There's no shortage of that in Seattle; plenty of coffee houses, bookstores, and community centers overflow with live literature in dozens of regular and special events.

Weekly open mics include Mondays -- with Thai buffet -- 8:00 at Bai Pai Restaurant in Ravenna; The Seattle Poetry Slam, Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm at ToST in Fremont; and Sundays at 7:00 at Wayward Coffeehouse in Greenwood.

Monthly open mic events include the It's About Time Writers Reading Series on the second Thursday of every month, 6:30pm at Ravenna Third Place Books; the Take a Poem into Your Heart Series on the third Friday of every month, 7:00pm at Bookworm Exchange in Columbia City; and PoetsWest at Ballard Library every third Saturday at 4:00pm.

Literature is alive all over Seattle just about every night of the week! Keep in mind that it's best to arrive early to sign up for open mics. Also, Taopoet can't vouch for the scheduling of these events. It's best to phone first.
